Kitchens That Feed a Full House

Countertops in North Las Vegas take more daily punishment than most. Census figures put the average household here at 3.12 people, well above many valley suburbs, and that means more meals, more homework at the island and more spills on the counter. When we quote a new top for a home in this city, durability comes first and looks a close second. Quartz is usually where that conversation starts, because it does not need sealing and shrugs off the coffee rings and sauce splatters that a big family produces every week.

Why so many tops here are due for replacement

North Las Vegas grew fast. Wikipedia's census table shows the population jumping from 115,488 in 2000 to 216,961 in 2010. In the 1990s the city annexed about 60 square miles of desert, and much of that land became subdivisions. Aliante, in the northwest part of the city, broke ground in August 2002 and opened officially on May 3, 2003, with a first phase of about 1,750 single-family homes. Houses from that wave were often finished with builder-grade laminate, tile or entry-level granite. Twenty-plus years later, those surfaces are chipped, stained or simply dated, and swapping them out is one of the most noticeable upgrades a homeowner can make without touching the cabinets.

  • Full kitchen countertop replacement: tear-out of the old top, templating, fabrication and install

  • Quartzite and marble for owners who want a natural look and accept a bit more care
  • Outdoor kitchen countertops for backyard grills and bars

Very hard water and stone

The Southern Nevada Water Authority rates valley tap water at about 280 parts per million, or 16 grains per gallon, which it calls very hard. North Las Vegas runs its own water utility and is a member agency of the SNWA. On a counter, hard water shows up as chalky rings around the faucet and dull spots where water dries. Quartz resists those spots well and cleans up with mild soap. Polished granite and marble can look hazy if mineral water sits on them, so we talk through sealing and wiping habits before you choose a natural stone. The SNWA notes that deposits on fixtures and countertops can be prevented by wiping surfaces dry.

City permits and your project

North Las Vegas is its own incorporated city, founded in 1919 and incorporated on May 1, 1946, so building questions go to the city rather than to Clark County. A straight countertop swap on existing cabinets is usually simple, but moving a sink, adding a gas line for an outdoor kitchen or changing electrical can bring in other trades and city rules. We will flag anything in your scope that goes beyond the countertop itself so you can confirm requirements before work starts.

Getting a quote

Call (725) 433-0381 or send photos and rough measurements of your kitchen. We will come out, measure, show you material options and give you a written quote. Typical pricing depends on the stone, edge profile, sink cutouts and how many seams the layout needs, so the quote spells out each of those items.

North Las Vegas Questions

Is quartz a good choice for a North Las Vegas family kitchen?

For most busy households, yes. Quartz is non-porous, does not need sealing and holds up to everyday spills. It can be damaged by very hot pans set directly on it, so we recommend trivets near the range. If you want natural stone, granite is also durable but should be sealed on a schedule.

My Aliante home still has its original builder countertops. Can you replace just the tops?

Usually. If the cabinets are level and in good shape, we remove the old tops, template the existing boxes and install new surfaces on them. We check the cabinets during the estimate, because a sagging base needs to be fixed before stone goes on.

Will hard water ruin a granite countertop?

It will not ruin it, but at 16 grains per gallon valley water can leave hazy spots on polished stone if it is left to dry. A good sealer and wiping the area around the sink dry make a big difference. Quartz is less fussy about this.

Do you come out to North Las Vegas from Henderson?
